Advancements In Veterinary Dentistry: A Hands-On Workshop A Weekend Dentistry Course Presented by Green Dog and Taught by Dr. Ren Garcia About The Workshop This intensive hands-on workshop is designed for veterinarians seeking to expand their practical skills in veterinary dentistry. Led by Dr. Ren Garcia, one of the foremost experts in the field, this course covers essential and advanced dental techniques applicable to small animal practice. Participants will gain practical experience in radiographic interpretation, periodontal disease management, surgical extractions, and pain control procedures. The hands-on portion of the course will allow attendees to practice surgical techniques under direct expert supervision, ensuring they leave with improved confidence and clinical proficiency. By The End Of The Course Participants Will: Understand veterinary dental anatomy and the pathophysiology of common dental diseases. Accurately interpret dental radiographs to diagnose oral pathology. Perform surgical extractions and periodontal surgery using proper techniques. (included in the registration fee, RSVP required.) About the Instructor Dr. Garcia is the founder and chief of staff at Green Dog Dental and Veterinary Center. His experience and training in oral surgery span over 5000 procedures in a 12-year span and include general dentistry, jaw fracture repair techniques, endodontic treatments, root canal therapy, and surgical oncology. He is currently pursuing two Master's degrees—one in Veterinary Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery from the University of Luxembourg, and another in Veterinary Dentistry through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZVS). Additionally, he also serves as a full-time faculty professor of Clinical Studies at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences mentoring senior veterinary students in dentistry and oral surgery. Abdominal Ultrasound: Techniques And Clinical Applications For The General Practice A weekend course taught by Dr. Michael Geist and Dr. Ren Garcia - The course will serve as an introduction to abdominal ultrasound. Program Description The course will serve as an introduction to abdominal ultrasound. This two-day, clinically focused, hands-on course will teach you how to use your ultrasound machine, optimize images, and perform a complete ultrasound examination. With over eight hours of laboratory sessions using live dogs and cats, this course will provide all the information needed to understand normal anatomy and how to perform an examination to obtain diagnostic images. Learning Objectives By the end of this course, participants will: Understand the basic functionality of an ultrasound machine and how to adjust the settings to achieve the best possible diagnostic image Learn about normal anatomy and ultrasound appearances, including the liver, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, urinary bladder, and gastrointestinal tract Understand the differences in anatomy between dogs and cats Develop a systematic routine for evaluating the entire abdomen Be introduced to common abnormal anatomy and pathology frequently diagnosed using abdominal ultrasound Event Details Total CE Hours: 14 Hour Hands-On Lab Work Cost: $1,629.00 Spots available: 20 Who can register: DVMS only About the Instructors Dr. Michael Geist DVM, DACVIM, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Geist serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Green Dog Veterinary Center and is a board-certified internal medicine specialist and practitioner. His degrees include Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Diplomate of the American College of Internal Medicine (DACVIM). He has worked in private practice since 2006, working at different multi-disciplinary emergency and specialty hospitals in New York City, San Diego, and Los Angeles. Dr. Geist has a love of medicine, science, and helping people with the healthcare needs of their pets. Dr. Ren Garcia DVM, Green Dog Founder, Lecturer/Instructor Dr. Garcia is the CEO and Chief of Staff at Green Dog Dental & Veterinary Center in Los Angeles and as a full-time faculty professor of Clinical Studies at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences. He brings over 15 years of experience in veterinary ultrasound, following a two-year diagnostic imaging internship under Dr. Seth Wallack (DACVR) at the Veterinary Imaging Center of San Diego. Dr. Garcia has lectured widely on abdominal ultrasonography and is currently pursuing dual master's degrees in Dentistry and Orofacial Surgery—one through the University of Luxembourg and the other through the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (MANZCVS).
